Henry specialises in the environmental aspects of land ownership. He advises on natural capital agreements and other environmental contracts relating to land. His clients are typically landowners, responsible bodies and developers. He was one of the first lawyers to identify the potential of conservation covenants and has written and spoken extensively on their potential uses and role in green investment.
Henry’s background is in property law and with experience in both commercial and rural property.
Previous experience includes:
Advising a charitable landowner on the purchase of a golf course, which it then leased on a 99-year bespoke lease to a national environmental charity.
Advising a client on the sale of a farm in the south west to a rewilding charity.
Assisting a major UK investor on the purchase of multiple supermarkets.
Writing guide on natural capital investment for (and at the request of) a major institutional investor client, setting out: i) why companies might wish to invest in natural capital, ii) how to structure that investment and iii) how to deploy that investment.
Together with colleagues, publishing the first serious consideration of the legal possibilities of conservation covenants, followed by articles published in Estates Gazette on the tax implications and investment possibilities of conservation covenants.
Advising a private bank on the £70 million refinancing of a series of rural estates in the Midlands.
Advising a landowner client on one of the largest solar farms seen in the UK (900 acres), such that it counts as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP).
Advising a major London hotel on the property aspects of a £400 million refinancing and new property purchase.

Before joining Lux Nova Partners, Henry worked at Macfarlanes in the commercial property team and at Forsters in their rural property team. He completed his training contract at Hogan Lovells.
