Smart electricity
We are involved in a range of smart grid and electricity market projects, ranging from “virtual private wires” to real time balancing and the development out of automated platforms for capacity markets and Corporate PPAs.

Carbon capture and storage (CCS)
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is a technology that has been proven to work. However, it has not yet been scaled commercially due to the technical, environmental and financial challenges that it poses. To date, CCS has been mooted as a way of “cleaning” coal and gas fired electricity production. However, with the advent of truly green renewable energy production, CCS may in future be deployed more effectively in industrial processes.
Members of our team have worked on some of the very few CCS transactions so far, advising project developers and “pathfinder banks” on these complicated and innovative transactions. Our work has involved advice on the commercial contracts, the planning and licensing arrangements, review of the equity injection structure, legal due diligence into the projects and scrutiny of the relevant Government support initiatives.
