Lux Nova Partners was recently appointed by the Department of Energy & Climate Change’s Heat Networks Delivery Unit (HNDU) to draft guidance for local authorities and other developers of district heating schemes. The guidance, which will be available to local authorities shortly covers procurement and state aid issues. Under a separate appointment, we have been working alongside consultants, Arup, to produce guidance on governance, commercial structures, choice of delivery vehicles and contracts. HNDU has been allocated £300m to incentivise further take-up of district heating and it’s hoped that the combination of this guidance and funding will catalyse a step-change in growth of the district heating market.
